Our story

Rent with a light heart with Coucou&Co since 2017!

2016 - A school project

The company’s concept was born as part of a dedicated option in the final year of training at the HES-SO Valais/Wallis (University of Applied Sciences) in Sierre. A project emerged: offer an Airbnb concierge service to owners of mountain chalets and flats to combat the problem of cold beds. Coucou&Co’s first customer? One of our teachers, who entrusted us with the management of his chalet in Vercorin. In December, the start-up came 2nd in the Innosuisse CTI competition. The aim of the competition is to promote and support innovation processes.

2017 - Foundation of Coucou&Co

In February, our first property is let in Saint-Luc. In October, Coucou&Co is officially founded by Nicolas Montagner and Andreas Fischer at the Technopôle in Sierre, with the mission of helping owners make the most of their property through our management service for furnished accommodation.

 

2018 - Validation of the concept

To find the optimum operating model, we carry out several tests of the market and our services. Our portfolio is growing and we have our first contact with a property fund to manage serviced apartments in Lausanne. We also furnished our first flat for short-term rental. We are taking a new step by maximising the visibility of our accommodation and marketing it on Airbnb, Booking.com and Tripadvisor.
 

2019 - Start of CoucouApp and CoucouGuide

We welcomed our 1,000th customer in January. To meet our needs, we created the CoucouApp application and hired a developer. The application allows us to manage rentals, adverts and the content available for each property. At the same time, CoucouGuide was developed. This online guide allows guests to consult all the information they need for their stay. As the company continues to grow, we have taken on our first intern to manage operations.

2020 - Opening of the Swiss Resort and development of the business model

Covid was knocking on our door and we were faced with the sudden halt in international tourism. At the same time, Coucou&Co opened its first apartment hotel, the Swiss Resort in Aigle. This opportunity revealed the potential of apartment hotels on the Swiss market and boosted the start-up’s growth. It will also enable the company’s business model to evolve by opening up the rental of certain flats for longer periods. The team has grown to 7 employees.

2021 - The company is growing

Coucou&Co’s growth is consolidating, and the team continues to grow and structure itself. The start-up is becoming a scale-up.

2022 - Creation of Nonanteneuf appart‧hōtel

The market opens its doors to us, and we sign the management of a second appart-hotel: Nonanteneuf Morges. With the potential of the market, we register the Nonanteneuf appart‧hōtel brand and set ourselves the goal of opening 10 establishments within 5 years. We are approaching 300 rentals under management.

2023 - Conversion to a PLC and deployment of CoucouOwner

Coucou&Co becomes a limited company. That same year, we rolled out CoucouOwner. This application, designed for our landlord customers, gives them access to their rental data, accounts and statistics, while allowing them to block their occupancy.

2024 - Moving to Sion and expansion for Nonanteneuf

In April, the company moved to the Grande Dixence building in Sion. Spacious and ideally located, this freshly renovated office provides us with a warm new workspace in which to pursue our growth.

Swisscom is our privileged supplier of telecommunications services. With them, we provide a reliable wi-fi connection and TV solutions to make your tenants’ stay as comfortable as possible. Within our apartment-hotels, a welcome TV system is also available, allowing us to broadcast practical and tourist information.

Thanks to their expertise, we are able to present properties in the best possible light, offering potential tenants an immersive and attractive experience.
